Save the Earth and Improve Human Well-being
Organic Circle is a community for consumers who support regenerative agriculture. Our mission is to restore a healthy Earth, make nutrient-rich foods accessible to everyone, and promote human well-being by supporting organic and regenerative agriculture.
Conventional agricultural practices harm soil, water, and human health due to an excessive focus on yields. Regenerative Agriculture doesn’t rely on synthetic fertilizers or herbicides. Instead, it embraces the power of nature and reduces the cost of growing crops, regardless of the scale of the farmland.
Learn more about the power of regenerative agriculture and how it can positively impact our lives.
Toxic chemicals used in industrial agriculture act as endocrine disruptors, with the potential to cause cancer in humans. The industrial agriculture has made corn both cheap and abundant, resulting in the widespread use of high fructose corn syrup in our culture. This has contributed to global epidemics of diabetes and obesity. A staggering 75% of the United States’ $3 trillion annual healthcare expenditure is linked to preventable lifestyle diseases, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Simultaneously, we continue to use record levels of pesticides—5.2 billion pounds per year.
Farming has a big impact on our planet’s future. Our climate is changing at an alarming rate, with human behavior as a significant catalyst. Industrial farming relies on fossil fuel-intensive chemical fertilizers and pesticides, encourages high degrees of mechanization & fuel-burning equipment. It also releases large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere through intensive tillage. The alternative is to use more strong chemicals instead of tillage to control weeds.
What is Regenerative Agriculture?
Regenerative agriculture is a farming approach that prioritizes soil health. Unlike conventional farming practices that often degrade soil through the use of heavy machinery, fertilizers, and pesticides, regenerative agriculture aims to restore and enhance soil quality.
When soil is in good condition, it has several benefits:
Increased Food Production: Healthy soil produces more food and provides better nutrition.
Carbon Storage: It stores more carbon, which helps mitigate climate change.
Biodiversity Support: Healthy soil fosters biodiversity by providing habitat for microorganisms, insects, fungi, and other species.
Ecosystem Services: It supports water drainage, pollination, and other natural processes that benefit the environment.
What can I do?
There are a couple of things you can do today.
Learn about regenerative agriculture, let your important people know about the problems we are facing with our food system, and what we can do today.
Support local farmers adopting organic and regenerative farming practices.
Grow vegetables at home without synthetic fertilizer and pesticides.
